The best Asus laptops for every type of user

An Asus laptop

This content originally appeared on Mashable for a US audience and has been adapted for the UK audience.

It gets pretty overwhelming shopping for a new laptop. But as one of the biggest laptop manufacturers in the world, Asus is a great starting point — whether you need a cheap laptop for taking to university or a powerhouse for playing the latest games.

To help you along, we've rounded up a selection of the best Asus laptops for all people and all budgets. But we haven't stopped there. After all, you probably want to know a bit more about what all those technical specifications actually mean and figure out just what you need most from your purchase, so we've looked at all that too.

With a range of different Asus laptop models, you'll soon appreciate the difference between a ZenBook and a ROG Zephyrus — and everything else in between.

What are the different Asus laptop models?

Like many other computer brands, Asus offers several different laptop models that cater to different budgets and needs. Here's a quick breakdown:

Chromebook — Chromebooks run Chrome OS and store the majority of their files on the cloud. They're not powerful devices but with great battery life and the ease of being able to access your files from anywhere, they're practical and cheap.

ExpertBook — The ExpertBook laptops are business-minded with business-specific features. They're made with military-grade toughness in mind, while remaining incredibly light. These are the workhorses for commuters and frequent flyers.

ROG/TUF — Designed for gamers, the TUF Gaming and ROG (Republic of Gamers) range provides great graphics cards, powerful performance, and usually a few gaming-centric extras such as RGB lighting for the keyboards and other fun bonuses. These are premium but tend to be a little heavier because of all the power under the hood.

VivoBook — With a stylish design, the VivoBook range is good looking and slim. Even better, it also tends to offer convertible features with certain laptops so you can use your laptop as a tablet and vice versa. Best suited for productivity on-the-go.

ZenBook — One of the biggest ranges under the Asus brand, ZenBooks are typically thin, lightweight, and pretty stylish. These are the devices that are most likely to rival the likes of Apple's MacBooks, in that it's easy to carry them between locations while still benefiting from good battery life and strong features. They're the general all-rounders of the Asus stable but they're rarely the cheapest option.

This is a useful starting point on your shopping journey.

What are the most important things to look for in a laptop?

Like buying a car, you need to know what you're looking for. In the case of finding the best Asus laptop for you, it all depends on how you plan on using it.

Keen to game all night long or planning on conducting some complex video or photo editing? In that case, you'll want a powerful CPU and GPU to keep things running smoothly. For anything heavy-duty, you'll want a powerful CPU. Paired up with that also needs to be a decent amount of RAM. Most laptops come with a minimum of 8GB these days but if you plan on multitasking a lot then you'll really need 16GB to avoid any frustration. For general business or productivity purposes, hard drive space shouldn't be too big an issue as you can store a lot of files on the cloud but again, if you're editing photos or videos, you'll need some decent spare capacity.

It's also important to consider the size, weight, and portability of your laptop. Finally, don't forget about what might feel like the incidental extras when picking out a laptop. We're talking about things like how many ports it has and how long the battery lasts.

What is the best Asus laptop?

Now that you know everything about laptops, you can make an informed purchase decision. To help you even further, we have done a lot of the hard work for you and lined up a selection of impressive Asus laptops that should suit just about everyone.

These are the best Asus laptops in 2023.

Meta Connect 2024: What to expect, including Quest 3S and new AR smart glasses

Meta Connect 2024 is so close, you can almost taste it. Launching during the week of Sept. 23, the social media giant is expected to rollout hardware and software goodies that will intrigue VR gamer enthusiasts, AI aficionados, and smart glasses devotees. But what, specifically, does Meta have up its sleeves? We have a few guesses based on credible reports. What to expect at Meta Connect 2024 Last year, the Meta Quest 3 was announced in early June, but it got its full reveal at Meta Connect 2023. The headset boasted a sleeker, more comfortable design, as well as new AR capabilities, that made it more appealing than its predecessor. Once again, for Meta Connect 2024, the social media giant is expected to drop a new VR headset, but it's not necessarily an upgrade over the Quest 3. Meta Quest 3S Rumor has it that Meta is planning on revealing a cheaper, more budget-friendly version of the Quest 3 called "Quest 3S." Tweet may have been deleted Whether it was intent
