Switch to Verizon home internet and get a bunch of Walmart freebies and savings worth up to $1,300 per year

Save up to $1,300 per year: On Jan. 23, Verizon announced a deal providing 12 months of free Walmart+ membership (and other freebies) for new home internet customers. This deal starts on Jan. 26, 2023.

Bundles are a great way to save on services you use every day. They prevent you from paying separate fees, allow you to see everything in one bill, and often include great phone or WiFi plans. And Verizon has a deal for new home internet customers that bundles savings on home delivery, fuel, streaming, and more.

On Jan. 23, Verizon announced a unique deal: New customers who switch to Verizon home internet will also get a free 12-month subscription to Walmart+ if they make the switch on or after Jan. 26. Customers can now visit their nearest Verizon store or check the company's site with inquiries about a potential switch. Here's what the deal includes:

  • A subscription to Paramount+ Essential, which lets you see films and shows included in the streamer.

  • Free home delivery from Walmart.

  • Walmart Rewards membership: A new program that will help you accrue points on qualifying purchases. These will be redeemable on future in-store or online purchases at the retailer.

  • Fuel discounts of up to 10 cents per gallon on partner gas stations, such as Walmart, Exxon, Murphy, and Mobil.

  • Free shipping from Walmart with no minimum order requirement.

  • Early access to Black Friday sales and exclusive sales prices on select product launches.

  • A mobile "scan and go" feature that will let customers use their phones to scan items as they go, contact-free and quickly.

  • Additional access to extra deals.

In order to get this deal, you'll have to switch over to Fios or 5G internet by Apr. 12, 2023, and redeem your Walmart+ offer within 60 days of making the switch, or before Jul. 12, 2023. You can still get this internet deal if you have a current mobile-only plan with Verizon, but 5G and LTE home internet customers must be completely new to Verizon in order to be eligible. Check with your current home internet provider about any termination clauses in your contract.

The final length of the included Walmart+ plan subscription depends on the plan you choose and can be anywhere from 3, 6, or 12 months in length. After this, you'll be subject to Walmart+'s subscription price, which is currently set at $12.95 per month.

Ready to save on your internet, food, and fuel bills? You'll have to wait until Jan. 26 to officially make the switch, but you can start asking for details now.

Web3 developer activity spiked in Q4 2022 despite market volatility

Web3 developer activity still grew in the last quarter of 2022, according to a new report, despite crypto market volatility and stacks of negative headlines. Ethereum, one of the largest layer-1 (L1) blockchains in the crypto ecosystem, had a 453% increase in mainnet smart contract deployments in the fourth quarter of 2022, signaling high developer momentum amid crypto market volatility, according to Alchemy’s Web3 Development Report . “As we saw in Q3 as well, web3 devs are long-term committed to building out this ecosystem because they believe in the technology,” Jason Shah, head of growth at Alchemy, said to TechCrunch. “That durable belief, paired with more reliable infrastructure, better tooling and increasing consumer adoption every quarter, is compelling devs to dig their heels in despite unfavorable market conditions.” The global market capitalization of the crypto market has fallen from over $2 trillion at the beginning of 2022 to about $800 billion by the end of the year,
