Supreme Court strikes down Trump tariffs 6-3. Tech stocks rally, but will prices drop?

The Supreme Court struck down one of President Donald Trump's signature accomplishments on Friday, ruling 6-3 that the president lacked the authority to impose many of his tariffs . Since returning to the White House, President Trump has tested the boundaries of executive power, and the Supreme Court decision was a clear check on presidential authority. SEE ALSO: People with disabilities are 'eating the cost' of tariffs Chief Justice John Roberts Jr. issued the court's opinion, which found that the International Emergency Economic Powers Act of 1977 (IEEPA) does not give the president the authority to impose tariffs unilaterally. Roberts Jr. was joined by justices Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan, Neil Gorsuch, Amy Coney Barrett, and Ketanji Brown Jackson, while Brett M. Kavanaugh, Clarence Thomas, and Samuel Alito, Jr. dissented. "The Framers gave 'Congress alone' the power to impose tariffs during peacetime," Roberts wrote in the majority opinio...

Toy Story 5 trailer: Woody and Buzz reunite to save Bonnie from becoming an iPad kid

When we last left the Toy Story gang, Woody (voiced by Tom Hanks) and Bo Peep (voiced by Annie Potts) had split off from the rest of the crew in order to help the abandoned toys of the world. Now, in Pixar 's upcoming Toy Story 5 , they've returned to 8-year-old Bonnie's (voiced by Scarlett Spears) house in order to save her from a new technological threat. SEE ALSO: 'Toy Story 5' teaser pits toys against their biggest enemy yet: An iPad The technology in question is a tablet device named Lilypad (voiced by Greta Lee). Bonnie is instantly smitten, spending all her time gazing at the screen instead of inventing new stories with her toys. How will the low-tech toys take on a high-tech toy who is, quite literally, always listening to their every word? Toy Story 5 's latest trailer teases this growing conflict, seeing toys like Jessie (voiced by Joan Cusack) and Buzz Lightyear (voiced by Tim Allen) feeling increasingly abandoned. Lee Cronins The Mummy trailer combines creepy kids and Egyptian mythology

Evil Dead Rise director Lee Cronin has another horror reboot on his hands, with Lee Cronin's The Mummy . Yes, that's the full title, not to be confused with Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz's 1999 adventure film (or its upcoming sequel), nor Tom Cruise's 2017 bomb that failed to kickstart the Dark Universe. (RIP.) SEE ALSO: 'The Mandalorian and Grogu' trailer promises classic Star Wars adventure... and a weirdly buff Hutt Instead, Lee Cronin's The Mummy reimagines the classic Universal Monsters tale, turning the titular bandaged baddie into a creepy child. That child is Katie (Natalie Grace). She disappeared on a trip to Egypt with her parents (Jack Reynor and Laia Costa) eight years prior, only to suddenly turn up in a sarcophagus. "What was our daughter doing in a 3,000-year-old sarcophagus?" her father wonders. Great question! The answer: Clearly nothing good, because as the trailer reveals, Katie is now a mummified husk who bites peo...

Google responds to claim that it stole NPR hosts voice

Radio host David Greene is suing Google , alleging that the tech giant copied his voice for its NotebookLM AI tool, the Washington Post and others reported — and Google has responded. Greene is the former co-host of NPR's  Morning Edition  and currently the host of the  Left, Right, & Center  podcast from the NPR member station KCRW. Greene found out about NotebookLM, which autogenerates podcasts, from a former coworker and was "completely freaked out," he told the Post . SEE ALSO: OpenClaw founder Peter Steinberger joins OpenAI The complaint, which was filed on January 23 in California, states that Google "sought to replicate Mr. Greene's distinctive voice — a voice made iconic over decades of decorated radio and public commentary — to create synthetic audio products that mimic his delivery, cadence, and persona." The suit claims that Google violated California and common law statutory right to publicity, which concerns unauthorized uses of so...

AI music enters the Olympics ice dancing contest

AI-generated content, which some call slop , is everywhere. And the 2026 Winter Olympics are no exception, now that Czech ice dancers have come under fire for using AI-generated music in their routine. In the run-up to the Olympics, Czech pair Katerina Mrazkova and Daniel Mrazek caught flak for using an AI song that appeared to rip off the 1998 New Radicals hit "You Get What You Give". (Journalist Shana Bartels has covered that saga in depth.) Here is the Czech pair dancing to their AI rip-off of You Get What You Give, replaced for the Olympics by an AI song with “original” lyrics that sounds pretty much the same [image or embed] — Rodger Sherman ( @rodger.bsky.social ) February 10, 2026 at 9:44 AM Mrazkova and Mrazek didn't use that tune again in Milan — but they did use another AI generated piece.
