Meta Connect 2024: What to expect, including Quest 3S and new AR smart glasses

Meta Connect 2024 is so close, you can almost taste it. Launching during the week of Sept. 23, the social media giant is expected to rollout hardware and software goodies that will intrigue VR gamer enthusiasts, AI aficionados, and smart glasses devotees. But what, specifically, does Meta have up its sleeves? We have a few guesses based on credible reports. What to expect at Meta Connect 2024 Last year, the Meta Quest 3 was announced in early June, but it got its full reveal at Meta Connect 2023. The headset boasted a sleeker, more comfortable design, as well as new AR capabilities, that made it more appealing than its predecessor. Once again, for Meta Connect 2024, the social media giant is expected to drop a new VR headset, but it's not necessarily an upgrade over the Quest 3. Meta Quest 3S Rumor has it that Meta is planning on revealing a cheaper, more budget-friendly version of the Quest 3 called "Quest 3S." Tweet may have been deleted Whether it was intent

LinkedIn is using your data to train AI. Here's how to turn it off.

LinkedIn has been training generative AI with user data — a quiet change the public noticed on Wednesday. Users of the professional social networking platform owned by Microsoft were the first to notice a new option pop up in their data privacy settings called "Data for Generative AI Improvement." Is Apple Intelligence only on iPhone 16? We have the answers

"Is Apple Intelligence only coming to iPhone 16 " is a question I often get as a tech journalist on the Apple beat. The quick answer is no. Apple Intelligence, revealed at WWDC 2024 (an annual Apple conference and livestream that reveals the company's newest software developments), is the tech giant's new suite of AI tools. Apple Intelligence includes a new-and-improved Siri, Writing Tools (for adjusting the tone of your texts and emails), summarized notifications, call recording, the Clean Up tool (Apple's answer to Google's Magic Eraser feature), and more. You can actually test some of these features as we speak, but you'll need to download the iOS 18.1 developer beta . (If you want to test it, please back up your iPhone; betas are known to be a little rough-around-the-edges.) Keep in mind, though, there are some Apple Intelligence tools you can't test yet, including Genmoji (AI-generated emoji). However, only select iPhone devices support t

How the Pet Shop Boys became the soundtrack to 'Industry' Season 3

One of the many great joys of Industry Season 3 is the soundtrack. The series dips not once but twice into the discography of the Pet Shop Boys, with both needle drops delivering standout musical moments. SEE ALSO: 'Industry' stars Myha'la and Marisa Abela break down Harper and Yasmin's big fight: 'This is the end for them' The first instance comes at the end of episode 1, with "Opportunities (Let's Make Lots of Money)" playfully undercutting Lumi's disastrous IPO. (Lumi did not, in fact, make lots of money.) Then, in episode 6, the Pet Shop Boys' cover of "Always on My Mind" accompanies a tender flashback to Harper Stern (Myha'la) helping Yasmin Kara-Hanani (Marisa Abela) handle the complicated aftermath of her father Charles' (Adam Levy) death. The desire for Industry to include a double whammy of Pet Shop Boys — triple, if you count episode 6's use of Electronic's "Getting Away With It," fea

Don't get iPhone 16 Pro Max — here's why iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are better buys

I've always been a "Pro Max," "Ultra," and "XL" stan. Whether it's an Android or iOS device, I want the latest and greatest offering from Samsung, Google, and Apple. For example, the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL is a beast of the phone, with a "can't stop, won't stop" battery life runtime that blew us away . Plus, its Super Res Zoom is pretty sick. Meanwhile, I wouldn't even look at the cheapest Pixel 9 . The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra sports an S Pen that I would never give up for a stylus-less base model. As for the iPhone 15 Pro Max , I love that I can experiment with Apple Intelligence, which is currently in a super early beta version of iOS 18, while the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models lack Apple's new suite of AI features. Yawn! Now that the iPhone 16 has dropped, I thought I'd lean more toward the iPhone 16 Pro Max , but for the first time ever, the entry-level model (i.e., non-Pro iPhone 16) caught my ey
